Tara McSorley works at the Mental Health and Wellness Center of Madison. Tara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Masters’ Degree in Counseling and Social Work. She works with a team of professionals who hold a primary purpose of helping families find the resources and support necessary to address addiction and mental health concerns, heal and move forward They believe in the strength and inner resiliency of each person and focus treatment on accessing that strength to allow them to move forward to enjoy a more joyous life.
Tara is intensively trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy by Behavioral Tech and uses DBT either adherently or informed in her general practice. Tara is a psychoanalytic candidate at The Center for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy of New Jersey. She attends classes, personal analysis, and supervision. Tara has also trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy specializing in treating developmental and complex trauma. Tara is training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to treat trauma and trauma related disorders. She has worked in all levels of care at facilities helping people needing substance and mental health care. Tara has been trained in the ARISE model of intervention to help individuals and their families address addiction and mental health concerns.
Tara uses her diverse training to individualize treatment for each person and family she works with. She uses a holistic, psychodynamic, team approach to effectively help where she feels she can and refers to other professionals when appropriate.
